    Historical and cultural commentary

Made in Indonesia. The «Asmat» series of figurines was produced in Indonesia from the early 2000s and was popular worldwide. The figurines depict members of the Papuan Asmat tribe in various life situations. To attract tourists to the Asmat lands in order to replenish the treasury of the underdeveloped provinces in the Indonesian western part of the island of New Guinea, the Indonesians released a limited «Asmat 18+» series, which was immediately sold out worldwide.
