    Historical and cultural commentary

Made in Indonesia. The figurine series «Asmat» was produced in Indonesia from the early 2000s and was popular worldwide. The figurines depict members of the Papuan Asmat tribe in various life circumstances. To attract tourists to the Asmat lands and to replenish the coffers of the underdeveloped provinces in the Indonesian western part of the island of New Guinea, the Indonesians released a limited series «Asmat 18+», which was immediately sold out worldwide.
